Industrial Sewing Machine Operator
Job Purpose
This role contributes to the T.R.S. team performing industrial sewing tasks related to industrial tarp manufacturing. Perform general labor tasks within the department as required.
Working Conditions & Schedule
T.R.S. Industries is a small manufacturing company with typical industrial conditions such as:
- Exposure to heat or cold via open overhead doors
- Exposure to heights
- Uneven or slippery walking surfaces
- Potential exposure to strong chemicals or odors
- Proximity to moving mechanical parts, machinery, or motorized forklifts.
This position is primarily Monday through Friday 7:30am-4:30pm. May require overtime (coming in early, staying late, or weekend availability) as needed depending upon workload demands.
Qualifications
This position requires a variety of skills on a wide range of tasks that vary daily. The following qualifications are essential for success at T.R.S. Industries:
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills required, or similar job experience.
- Ability to read, write, and understand detailed instructions written and communicated in English.
- Prior industrial sewing experience preferred but not required.
Duties & Responsibilities
Required to perform all tasks pertaining to set-up and operation of industrial sewing machines, including the following:
- Sew material using Industrial Sewing Machines.
- Sew by following product guides and observe stitching to detect defects.
- Inspect finished product for quality control.
- Make minor machine adjustments ie. Tension, treading, Changing needles and oiling,
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations and maintain departmental housekeeping standards. Employees are to spend the first 10 minutes of every day at the beginning, after lunch and before leaving to clean and sanitize their area.
- Promote and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
